Couch Potato Day - Part III - Enough Already!

Ugh! Sums it up for me right now.  I thought I would never in my life say this but I so missed running today and I'm going to miss it again tomorrow.  I'm going to walk on the treadmill perhaps for a little bit as I still need to take it easy.  If I just had a stuffy or runny nose then no problem.  However it's the congestion in my chest, sore throat and coughing that's killing me.  I went to the minute clinic today to see if I have any bacterial infections and everything checked out ok.  I'll hear about the throat culture in a couple of days. I have some fluid in one of my ears that could potentially cause problems so unless my ear hurts more then it does now it should be ok.  I just keep drinking my tea w honey, take advil, cough syrup, sudafed, do the salt water gargle and suck on cough drops.

My husband and I went out with the kids to a local store and even with cough drops I thought I was going to cough up a lung.  It's one of those coughs that the more …

Couch Potato Day - Part II

We'll I was going to call the Dr. today and get checked out, but mid morning I started to feel much better.  My eyes aren't oozing anymore (thanks to some eye drops for pink eye I had on hand).  And I have no headache to speak of (knock on wood).  I'm still a bit congested and I have a cough but I'm no worse for the wear.  I've been trying to rest as much as possible (with a young one at home to take care of rest isn't really an option).

As for exercise I don't feel full of energy so I'm going to listen to my body and miss the 3 miles I was scheduled to run today.  Tomorrow I'm scheduled to run 5miles and based on how I feel now (not 100%) I'm not going to run.  If I didn't have a  cough then I would go for it.  I've done workouts with a runny or even stuffy nose before.  Because of these two missed days I'm thinking Sunday will be a 5mile run for me instead of a cross training day.  I need to keep my mileage up!

For rest today I wa…

Couch Potato Day

I'm actually sitting on the couch as I type this post from my phone.  Last night my two year old M-, was up allot.  When he was asleep I was awake with a cough and I have swollen glands along with no voice and my ears are plugged up.  Even though I'm a little tired I did manage to get a little bit of house work done this morning.  I vacuumed and hope to get some more done in the living room and perhaps I'll wash the floors if I can.  My little one is a snuggle monster right now and I don’t want to interupt that :-)I'm thankful that today is a rest day according to my training schedule for the 12k -  I don’t have a ton of energy.  Yesterday I ran 4 miles with hills on the treadmill.  My pace was 11 1/2 minute mile.  Tomorrow I'm scheduled to run three miles. I hope my energy picks up so I can run tomorrow. If not then I'll be walking it.  I'll have to see how I feel tomorrow.  I was also scheduled to go to a playdate but I'm thinking I'm now going to…

In It To Win It!

I heard the song Good Vibrations by Marky Mark in my Butts and Guts class on Monday and it's a blast from the past.  I added it to my workout playlist and if you are looking for something with a good beat this is a great song.  Marky Mark's abs in the video are amazing by the way if you haven't seen the video yet.  I wonder what his workouts look like?

One of the phrases in the song that stuck me is: "If you ain't in it to win it
Then get the hell out"  The words/phrase "in it to win it" I've been noticing allot in other songs I've been hearing on the radio the past few days as I drive around town running errands.  For me the phrase means no going back.  I'm in this for a lifetime.

Last night I had my WW meeting and announced I lost 4lbs for a total loss of 75lbs.  When you reach such a milestone at WW you get these little washer type things with the lbs that you've lost (25, 50 or 75) etched on them.  I was given a 25 and a 50 as sh…

What would you do to celebrate?

I have 9 lbs left to lose to be at the top of my healthy BMI range (104 - 131 lb range) (http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obesity/bmi_tbl.pdf).

I have no idea how long that is going to take but my question to you is what should I do to celebrate?

What did you do to celebrate? - or what do you plan on doing to celebrate your achieved goal?

- 4.4lbs It's a great day!

I've been stuck for so long at the 143 - 144lbs range I thought I would never lose any more weight so it seemed (7 weeks of being at that weight).  As my body has gotten smaller it is less willing to let go of the fat.  I think it's amazing how our bodies adapt to changes in our diet and exercise.  Today I stepped on the scale and it said a - 4.4lbs!  WOW!  Finally my hard work paid off.  I must say some of what may have helped is I started a new training program to prepare for my 12 K in addition to lifting weights again, drinking more water and being super diligent about keeping track of everything I put in my mouth.

I'm feeling sore today after my Butts and Guts class yesterday morning.  I had a different instructor and my muscles have taken notice :-)  Today I ran 2 miles at a relaxed pace on the treadmill with a very small incline of 1.2.  I ran/walked 2 miles in 22 mins and 15 seconds.

Tomorrow I'm scheduled to do 30 - 40 minutes of cardio other than running a…
