Accountability +5.2lb - Really???

Not sure what happened?
Consumed a daily of 26 points (through mostly running in addition to weighs- I push myself when I workout as my legs are still sore ).
Earned and consumed 34 activity points.  Used 26 of my weeklies.
Is my home scale broken?
I did eat a late dinner and consumed allot of points yesterday.  Ate a few more pieces of fruit than usual.  Does that matter?
Have I retained a ton of water??
I did drink a million cups of tea yesterday (unsweetend and used cough drops) as I have a sore throat/cold.

According to my nutrition class it's all about having a calorie deficit.  If your body burns more calories than the amount of calories consumed you will have a deficit and you will lose weight.  Perhaps I should try counting calories?  One more thing to make time for??? (I'll think on it)

I'll see what happens on the scale tomorrow night at my meeting and next week.  Perhaps I'll try not using my weeklies this coming week?

Anyone out there with thoughts?

  1. This is just a thought, so I'll throw it out there. Maybe you are at your ideal weight for you.
I am not in great shape but I'm not overweight and have never been. I am in the normal weight range according to charts. But I never fluctuate. I don't have a digital scale or anything, I have a $10 scale that says I'm 5 lbs. less than the Dr. office says I am (but I am fully clothed and have shoes on) when I'm weighed at the dr.'s.
I think you are a true success and everybody has different body types and ideal weights. I really don't know what happened but I think you're doing great.

  2. Thank you so much Bridget! I'm keeping this in perspective. We'll see what next week brings.

  3. I would concur with Bridget...I've been about 140-145 this last entire year...it would be awesome to lose another 10, but I've lost 40lbs and I'm in the 'normal' range as Bridget said for herself. Last month I decided to calorie count for the FIRST TIME EVER and I didn't lose hardly anything...and it was a pain in the butt to calorie count and it took a lot of extra time to log, so I did it for 30days and now I'm done with it! This week I lost and I didn't calorie count ; ) Go figure!!

  4. Also...forgot to mention that everything I've heard/read says it's all about nutrition and weight/strength training...so I cut my cardio WAAAAAAY back b/c I was killing myself trying to run/walk/elliptical/bike X amount of miles/week. So it's working for me.

  5. Thank you so much for your thoughts Mid! It's funny you mentioned weight training because I just started getting back into that again as of last week. Back when the lbs flew off I was doing some hard weight training workouts in addition to cardio. I need to kick it up a notch!

Weight Watchers vs. Jillian Michael's

It's been a little over 3 years (January 2010) since I started my weight loss journey. I reached my goal weight in May of 2011 (135 lbs). Since then it's been a yoyo and my trend had been going up over the last several months. My current weight is 150 lbs (I was 155 but lost 5lbs over the last few weeks). My goal is to lose the weight I put back on (20 lbs) plus an additional 5 lbs for a weight loss of 25 lbs in total. It's so hard keeping the weight off!!

The strategy I'm now doing this time is different. I've decided to follow Jillian Michael's weight loss program instead of continuing on with Weight Watchers. I lost the 80lbs on Weight Watchers and the program served me well. It forced me to look at portion size, calories (with old points system), fiber, carbs, fat and protein (with the new points plus system).  It changed the way I looked at food. Instead of processed foods I focused on eating a variety of whole fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains and low …

Healthy Boundaries?

Growing up I always felt like I had to 'do what I was told' or else. A lot of what I learned as a child in terms of relationship bonds and my place in the world is mirrored in my adult relationships. It's taken me many years to figure what my mirror is showing me both good and bad.

I'm guessing many woman (not all) have felt the pressure to conform to others expectations and at the same time not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings or risk being seen as uncooperative. The price woman have paid over the decades has been insurmountable. I think of the mom on Leave It To Beaver, and how woman either bought into or felt that's what they should aspire to. Later on in television was the Mary Tyler Moore Show. The show was about a single woman in her thirties working at a TV station. In the show she was portrayed as a strong independent woman who knew more than those she worked with. Many decades since then more women are in the workplace than ever and more are showing …

Mini Blizzards

Genius

Mini blizzards are great when you want something sweet on occasion but don't want to kill yourself with tons of calories (there are still more calories in a mini blizzard compared to a cup of carrot sticks however).  This PB cup Mini Blizzard was perfect size and hit the spot.
